Job Overview

The ideal candidate will apply scientific principles to create safe, nutritious, and appealing food products that meet consumer demands and market trends in the US food industry.
Food Scientist responsibilities include:
1. Conduct research and development of new food products from concept to commercialization
2. Perform food chemistry analysis, shelf-life studies, and quality testing
3. Formulate recipes while considering cost, nutritional value, and sensory properties
4. Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, and FSMA regulations
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, production, and quality assurance
6. Troubleshoot production issues and optimize manufacturing processes
7. Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, formulations, and procedures
8. Evaluate raw materials and ingredients for quality and functionality
1. Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field
2. 3+ years of experience in food product development within US food manufacturing
3. Strong knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology, and food processing technologies
4. Experience with FDA and USDA regulatory requirements and compliance
5. Proficiency in laboratory techniques and food safety protocols (HACCP, GMP)
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
7. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree or PhD in Food Science or related discipline
2. Experience in specific food categories (dairy, bakery, meat, plant-based alternatives)
3. Knowledge of current food trends in the US market (clean label, organic, non-GMO)
4. Experience with sensory evaluation and consumer testing methodologies
5. Familiarity with food manufacturing equipment and scale-up processes
6. Proven track record of successful product launches in US retail markets
7. Professional certifications (CFS, PCQI)
