Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Camera Operator to capture high-quality video content for various productions. The ideal candidate will operate camera equipment to record scenes for television broadcasts, films, music videos, documentaries, or live events. This role requires technical expertise in camera operation, lighting techniques, and composition to visually tell compelling stories that meet creative and technical standards.
Camera Operator responsibilities include:
1. Operate professional video cameras, including cinema cameras, ENG cameras, and DSLR/mirrorless systems
2. Set up and configure camera equipment, including lenses, tripods, stabilizers, and accessories
3. Frame and compose shots according to director's instructions and storyboard requirements
4. Monitor and adjust camera settings for optimal exposure, focus, white balance, and color
5. Collaborate with directors, producers, and other crew members to achieve desired visual outcomes
6. Maintain and manage camera equipment, ensuring proper functionality and storage
7. Execute camera movements including pans, tilts, dolly shots, and handheld operation
8. Work efficiently in various environments including studio sets, outdoor locations, and live events
1. 3+ years of professional camera operation experience in broadcast, film, or production
2. Proficiency with professional camera systems from Sony, Canon, ARRI, or Blackmagic
3. Strong understanding of camera settings, codecs, and recording formats
4. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-location shoots
5. Physical stamina to handle camera equipment and maintain positions for extended periods
6. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for location work
7. Portfolio/reel demonstrating camera operation skills and technical proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Broadcasting, or related field
2. Experience with cinema cameras and large sensor cinematography
3. Knowledge of lighting techniques and equipment setup
4. Familiarity with live broadcast environments and multi-camera setups
5. Experience operating camera stabilization systems (Steadicam, gimbals, drones)
6. Union membership or eligibility (IATSE, NABET, or local broadcast unions)
7. Specialized experience in specific genres (sports, news, documentary, or narrative film)
Bonus Skills
1. Certified training in specific camera systems or cinematography techniques
2. Experience with camera department leadership or camera assisting roles
3. Knowledge of color grading and basic post-production workflows
4. FAA Part 107 certification for drone operation
