Job Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and professional Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of our premises, assets, and personnel. The ideal candidate will maintain a visible presence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions, observe for signs of crime or disorder, and take appropriate action to minimize damage. This role requires excellent judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations while adhering to all security protocols and procedures.
Security Officer responsibilities include:
1. Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence
2. Monitor surveillance equipment and inspect buildings, equipment, and access points
3. Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits
4. Respond to alarms and emergency situations promptly and appropriately
5. Complete detailed incident reports and maintain daily activity logs
6. Escort offenders off premises and contact authorities when necessary
7. Provide excellent customer service while maintaining security standards
8. Conduct security checks of vehicles, packages, and bags as required
9. Enforce property rules and regulations consistently
10. Coordinate with law enforcement agencies during investigations
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Valid security guard license/certification as per state requirements
3. Minimum 2 years of security experience in corporate or commercial settings
4. Complete understanding of security operations and safety practices
5. Ability to operate security systems and emergency equipment
6. Clean criminal background check and drug screening
7. Physical ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform patrols
8. CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
9. Excellent observation and situational awareness skills
10. Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field
2. Experience with access control systems (Lenel, Software House, etc.)
3. Prior military or law enforcement background
4. OSHA safety training certification
5. Experience in conflict de-escalation techniques
6. Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English)
7. Knowledge of emergency response protocols
8. Previous experience in report writing and documentation
9. Familiarity with CCTV monitoring systems
10. Security training from recognized institutions (ASIS, etc.)
