Firefighter responsibilities include:
1. Respond to emergency calls including structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and hazardous material incidents
2. Perform fire suppression using appropriate techniques, equipment, and water application methods
3. Conduct search and rescue operations in hazardous environments
4. Provide basic life support and emergency medical care as a certified First Responder or EMT
5. Operate and maintain fire apparatus, pumps, and emergency equipment
6. Conduct fire prevention inspections and public education programs
7. Participate in continuous training drills and physical fitness maintenance
8. Maintain station facilities and equipment readiness
9. Prepare incident reports and maintain documentation
10. Collaborate with other emergency response agencies
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent
2. Valid state driver's license with clean driving record
3. Firefighter I and II certification from accredited academy
4. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic certification
5. Physical ability to pass CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test)
6. Successful completion of background investigation and drug screening
7. Ability to work 24-hour shifts and respond to emergencies
8. Strong teamwork and communication skills
9. Knowledge of fire behavior, suppression techniques, and rescue procedures
10. Compliance with department physical fitness standards
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate's degree in Fire Science or related field
2. Paramedic certification
