We are seeking a creative and technically proficient Video Game Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing engaging gameplay mechanics, compelling narratives, and immersive worlds for next-generation gaming experiences across PC, console, and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate will bridge creative vision with technical execution to deliver memorable player experiences.
Video Game Designer responsibilities include:
1. Design and prototype core gameplay mechanics, systems, and features using industry-standard tools (Unity, Unreal Engine)
2. Create detailed design documentation including GDDs, wireframes, and flowcharts
3. Collaborate with artists, programmers, and producers to implement and refine game systems
4. Develop balanced progression systems, economies, and monetization strategies
5. Design and iterate on level layouts, enemy behaviors, and player abilities
6. Conduct playtesting sessions and incorporate feedback to improve game quality
7. Analyze player data and metrics to inform design decisions and optimizations
1. 3+ years professional game design experience with at least 1 shipped title
2. Proficiency with game engines (Unity or Unreal Engine) and prototyping tools
3. Strong understanding of game mechanics, balance, and player psychology
4. Experience creating comprehensive design documentation and wireframes
5. Portfolio demonstrating successful game design projects and problem-solving skills
6. Knowledge of current gaming trends across PC, console, and mobile platforms
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or related field
2. Experience with scripting languages (C#, Python, or Lua)
3. Background in specific genres: FPS, RPG, strategy, or mobile free-to-play
4. Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and player onboarding techniques
5. Experience working in Agile development environments with cross-functional teams
6. Knowledge of monetization strategies and live service game operations
