Job Overview
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain our enterprise network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will serve as the technical expert for complex network issues and lead network optimization initiatives across our organization.
Senior Network Engineer responsibilities include:
1. Design and implement scalable network architectures including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center networks
2. Configure and maintain Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
3. Implement and manage network security protocols including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems
4. Perform network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
5. Lead network infrastructure upgrades and technology refresh projects
6. Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation and diagrams
7. Provide Tier 3 support for complex network issues and mentor junior engineers
8. Implement automation scripts for network configuration and management tasks
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
2. 7+ years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise environments
3. CCNP or equivalent professional certification
4. Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS protocols
5. Extensive experience with Cisco IOS, NX-OS, and ASA firewall configurations
6. Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices
7. Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios)
8. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across multi-vendor environments
Preferred Qualifications
1. CCIE certification or equivalent expert-level certification
2. Experience with cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, Google Cloud VPC)
3. Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network automation
4. Experience with VoIP technologies and QoS implementation
5. Background in financial services, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries
6. Previous team lead or mentorship experience
7. Experience with Python or Ansible for network automation
8. Familiarity with zero-trust network architectures
Bonus Skills
1. CCIE certification in Routing & Switching or Security
2. Experience with network performance optimization and latency reduction
3. Knowledge of DevOps practices in network management
4. Experience with multi-cloud network connectivity solutions
5. Background in network architecture design for large-scale deployments
6. Familiarity with FedRAMP or other government compliance requirements
7. Experience with wireless network design and optimization
8. Previous work in Fortune 500 company network environments
