Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our high-performance database systems. This role requires deep expertise in database architecture, performance optimization, and data integrity for mission-critical applications serving US-based clients and operations.
1. Design and implement scalable database architectures for high-traffic applications
2. Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and system configuration
3. Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with US data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
4. Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
5. Collaborate with development teams on database design, migration, and optimization projects
6. Monitor database systems 24/7 and respond to production incidents
7. Automate database deployment and management processes using infrastructure-as-code
1. 7+ years of professional database engineering experience
2. Expert knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts
3. Deep experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL in production environments
4. Proven experience with database performance tuning and optimization
5. Strong understanding of database security best practices
6. Experience with database backup and recovery procedures
7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database)
2. Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
3. Experience with database automation and infrastructure-as-code tools
4. Understanding of data governance and compliance requirements for US markets
5. Previous experience in fintech, healthcare, or e-commerce industries
Bonus Skills
1. Database certification (Oracle Certified Professional, MongoDB Certified DBA)
2. Experience with database sharding and partitioning strategies
3. Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes
