What does a Scrum Master do?
Scrum Masters perform several key functions to support their teams and organizations. They facilitate Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. They work to remove impediments that are slowing the team's progress, whether those are technical, procedural, or interpersonal in nature. Scrum Masters coach the development team on self-organization and cross-functionality while protecting the team from external distractions and interruptions. Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to facilitate Agile development processes and coach our cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring Scrum principles and practices are followed, removing impediments, and fostering a collaborative environment that enables teams to deliver high-quality software solutions efficiently. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and deep understanding of Agile methodologies within the US technology market.
Scrum Master responsibilities include:
1. Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Scrum ceremonies
2. Coach team members on Agile principles and Scrum framework implementation
3. Remove impediments and protect the team from external distractions
4. Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress using Jira/Confluence
5. Collaborate with Product Owners on backlog grooming and prioritization
6. Ensure cross-team coordination and resolve dependencies
7. Promote continuous improvement through metrics and feedback mechanisms
8. Shield the team from interruptions during sprints to maintain focus
9. Facilitate conflict resolution and maintain team dynamics
10. Implement and monitor Scrum metrics (burn-down charts, velocity trends)
1. Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification
2. 3+ years of experience as Scrum Master for software development teams
3. Deep understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
4. Proven experience with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, VersionOne)
5. Excellent facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills
6. Strong conflict resolution and impediment removal capabilities
7. Experience in tracking and reporting team metrics and progress
8. Knowledge of software development lifecycle and technical practices
9. Ability to work with distributed teams across US time zones
10. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience scaling Agile using SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus frameworks
2. Background in software development or quality assurance roles
3. Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
4. Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
5. Experience in fintech, healthcare, or regulated industries
6. Advanced certifications (PSM II, A-CSM, CSP-SM)
7. Experience with multiple Agile teams simultaneously
8. Background in coaching organizations through Agile transformations
9. Experience with budget tracking and resource allocation
10. Master's degree in related field

1. Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) implementation
2. Proficiency in additional Agile tools (Rally, Trello, Azure DevOps)
3. Knowledge of Lean principles and value stream mapping
4. Experience with organizational change management
