Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Engineer to design, develop, and optimize innovative products from concept to production. The ideal candidate will bridge technical development with market needs, ensuring products meet quality standards, cost targets, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
Product Engineer responsibilities include:
1. Lead product design and development processes using CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD)
2. Conduct DFMEA and risk assessment analyses to identify potential failure modes
3. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T implementation
4. Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation including BOMs, specifications, and technical drawings
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, supply chain) to ensure design for manufacturability
6. Prototype development and validation testing to verify product performance
7. Implement engineering changes and manage revision control through PLM systems
8. Root cause analysis and problem-solving for product issues during development and production
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
2. 3+ years of product engineering experience in manufacturing or product development environment
3. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar)
4. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, stamping, or casting)
5. Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
6. Knowledge of materials science and selection criteria
7. GD&T proficiency and experience with technical drawing creation
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with root cause analysis experience
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in Engineering or MBA
2. Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 quality systems
3. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
4. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
5. Background in automotive, aerospace, medical device, or consumer products industries
6. Project management experience with track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
7. Experience with rapid prototyping technologies (3D printing, CNC machining)
8. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements (FDA, UL, CE)
Bonus Skills
1. Programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or VBA) for engineering automation
2. Experience with simulation software (ANSYS, Abaqus, or COMSOL)
3. Patent development and intellectual property experience
4. Bilingual capabilities (Spanish, Chinese, or German)
5. Experience with additive manufacturing and advanced materials
6. Knowledge of IoT and smart product integration
7. Experience with cost reduction initiatives and value engineering
