We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee all aspects of our payroll operations. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, and implement efficient payroll systems. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Payroll Manager responsibilities include:
1. Process multi-state payroll for 1000+ employees on a bi-weekly basis using ADP Workforce Now
2. Manage and mentor a team of 3 payroll specialists, providing training and performance evaluations
3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements
4. Oversee year-end processes including W-2 generation and distribution
5. Implement and maintain payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and system upgrades
6. Resolve complex payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries within 24 hours
7. Coordinate with HR and Finance departments for accurate benefits deductions and general ledger postings
8. Develop and document payroll procedures to maintain internal controls and audit readiness
9. Manage garnishments, levies, and support orders in compliance with legal requirements
10. Prepare payroll reports for management including labor distribution and overtime analysis
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
2. 7+ years of progressive payroll processing experience with 3+ years in a supervisory role
3. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
4. Expert knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and tax requirements
5. Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or similar enterprise payroll systems
6. Strong understanding of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliation
7. Experience with payroll audits and compliance reporting
8. Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
9. Thorough knowledge of FLSA, wage and hour laws, and payroll best practices
10. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with extreme attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in Business Administration or related field
2. Experience in organizations with 2000+ employees
3. Previous experience in healthcare, manufacturing, or retail industries
4. Knowledge of international payroll processing requirements
5. Experience with Workday or SAP payroll integrations
6. Background in union payroll environments with complex collective bargaining agreements
7. Experience implementing payroll system conversions or upgrades
8. Familiarity with California and New York payroll regulations
9. Previous work in publicly traded companies with SEC reporting requirements
10. Bilingual skills in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages

1. Experience with payroll process automation and robotics
2. Knowledge of international payroll and expatriate compensation
3. Proficiency in Power BI or Tableau for payroll analytics
4. Experience with equity compensation payroll processing
