Payroll Coordinator responsibilities include:

1. Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for all employees using ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems 2. Verify and reconcile timekeeping records, overtime calculations, and special payments 3. Manage multi-state payroll processing including varying state tax regulations and local requirements 4. Process wage garnishments, levies, and support orders in compliance with legal requirements 5. Handle payroll tax filings, quarterly reports (941s), and year-end W-2 processing 6. Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll inquiries within 24 hours 7. Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in HRIS systems 8. Process terminations, final paychecks, and unused PTO calculations according to state laws 9. Collaborate with HR on new hires, status changes, and benefit deductions 10. Prepare payroll reports for accounting department and management review

Must-Have Requirements

1. 2+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience in US multi-state environment 2. Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, or similar enterprise payroll software 3. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations including FLSA, FICA, and SUI 4. Strong understanding of payroll tax principles and wage garnishment processing 5. Experience with year-end processing including W-2 reconciliation and corrections 6. Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis 7. High school diploma or equivalent with payroll certification progress 8. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive payroll information 9. Excellent mathematical aptitude and accuracy with numbers 10. Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight payroll deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field 2. FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) 3. 3+ years of experience processing payroll for 500+ employees 4. Experience with HRIS systems integration (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM) 5. Knowledge of California payroll regulations and compliance requirements 6. Experience with union payroll processing and collective bargaining agreements 7. Background in accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation 8. Multi-state payroll experience across 10+ states 9. Bilingual skills in Spanish for employee communication 10. Experience implementing payroll process improvements and automation
