Job Overview
The Employee Relations Specialist will serve as a key liaison between employees and management, fostering a positive work environment through effective conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and proactive employee engagement strategies. This role requires expertise in US employment laws and regulations, with a focus on maintaining compliance while promoting a culture of fairness and respect.
Employee Relations responsibilities include:
1. Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues including harassment allegations, discrimination complaints, and workplace conflicts
2. Provide guidance to managers on performance management, disciplinary actions, and termination procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations
3. Interpret and apply company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment laws (ADA, FMLA, Title VII, NLRA)
4. Conduct workplace investigations and maintain detailed documentation for legal compliance
5. Develop and deliver training programs on conflict resolution, respectful workplace practices, and ER policies
6. Analyze ER metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop proactive strategies
7. Collaborate with HR Business Partners and legal counsel on complex ER cases and risk mitigation
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
2. 5+ years of dedicated employee relations experience in US corporate environment
3. Expert knowledge of federal and state employment laws (EEOC, OSHA, FLSA, FMLA)
4. Proven experience conducting workplace investigations and writing detailed investigation reports
5. Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills with demonstrated success in de-escalating tense situations
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in HR Management or Labor Relations
2. PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification
3. Experience with unionized workforce and collective bargaining agreements
4. Background in manufacturing, healthcare, or financial services industries
5. Experience with HRIS systems (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or Oracle HCM)
6. Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English)
