We are seeking an experienced Cafe Manager to oversee daily operations of our bustling cafe. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, managing staff, controlling inventory, and driving profitability while maintaining our establishment's high standards for quality and service.
Cafe Manager responsibilities include:
1. Manage daily cafe operations including opening/closing procedures
2. Train, schedule, and supervise cafe staff (baristas, servers, kitchen personnel)
3. Maintain inventory levels and place orders for coffee, food supplies, and equipment
4. Ensure consistent quality of coffee beverages and food items
5. Handle customer complaints and service recovery situations
6. Implement health and safety protocols according to local regulations
7. Monitor financial performance including P&L, labor costs, and food costs
8. Develop and execute local marketing initiatives to drive customer traffic
9. Maintain equipment functionality and coordinate repairs with vendors
10. Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations
1. 3+ years of cafe or restaurant management experience
2. Proven track record of managing teams of 5+ employees
3. Comprehensive knowledge of coffee brewing methods and beverage preparation
4. Food safety certification (ServSafe or equivalent)
5. Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets up to $500K annually
6. Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
7. Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
8. Experience with POS systems and inventory management software
9. Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or Business Administration
2. Experience with specialty coffee roasting and sourcing
3. Background in developing seasonal menus and specialty drinks
4. Previous experience with cafe opening/launch operations
5. Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred)
6. Experience with loyalty programs and customer retention strategies
7. Knowledge of local health department regulations and compliance
8. Barista competition experience or specialty coffee certifications
