Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled ICU Nurse to provide exceptional critical care to patients in our intensive care unit. This role requires advanced clinical expertise, quick decision-making abilities, and compassionate patient care for critically ill or injured patients with complex medical conditions. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver evidence-based care and achieve optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
ICU Nurse responsibilities include:
1. Monitor and assess critically ill patients' conditions using advanced hemodynamic monitoring equipment and assessment skills
2. Administer complex medication regimens including vasoactive drugs, sedatives, and titrated IV medications
3. Operate and manage sophisticated medical equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and continuous renal replacement therapy machines
4. Perform advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and emergency interventions during code situations
5. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
6. Provide emotional support and education to patients' families regarding complex medical conditions and treatment plans
7. Document all aspects of patient care accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems
8. Maintain strict infection control protocols and ensure compliance with ICU-specific safety standards
1. Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
2. Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting
3. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications from the American Heart Association
4. Graduate from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred but ADN accepted with experience)
5. Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make rapid clinical decisions in emergency situations
6. Comprehensive knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and critical care pharmacology
7. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and medical technology
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited program
2. 3+ years of ICU experience in a Level I or II trauma center
3. CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification from the AACN
4. Experience with specific ICU populations (neuro ICU, cardiac ICU, surgical ICU, or medical ICU)
5. Previous experience with Epic or Cerner EHR systems
6. Membership in professional organizations such as AACN or Sigma Theta Tau
7. Experience precepting new graduate nurses or orienting new staff members
Bonus Skills
1. Master's degree in Nursing or related field
2. TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification
3. Experience with ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) management
4. Proficiency in additional languages commonly spoken in our patient population (Spanish, Mandarin, etc.)
5. Previous travel nursing experience in various ICU settings
6. Published research or presentations in critical care nursing
7. Experience with quality improvement initiatives or evidence-based practice projects in critical care
