We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room (ER) Nurse to provide immediate and specialized care to patients in our fast-paced emergency department. This role requires quick assessment, critical thinking, and expert clinical skills to manage a wide range of medical emergencies from trauma cases to acute illnesses. The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, demonstrate exceptional decision-making abilities, and deliver compassionate care to diverse patient populations in accordance with US healthcare standards and emergency protocols.
ER Nurse responsibilities include:
1. Perform rapid triage assessments using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) to prioritize patient care
2. Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency interventions following ACLS/PALS protocols
3. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and neurological status
4. Collaborate with emergency physicians, trauma teams, and specialists for coordinated care
5. Manage trauma cases including STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and multi-system injuries
6. Document patient care using EPIC EMR system following HIPAA compliance standards
7. Operate and monitor emergency equipment: defibrillators, ventilators, and rapid infusers
8. Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
9. Participate in code blue and rapid response team activations
10. Maintain emergency department readiness through inventory management and equipment checks
1. Active RN license in state of practice with no restrictions
2. Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience in US healthcare setting
3. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from AHA
4. Proven competency in trauma nursing, emergency procedures, and critical care
5. Triage certification and emergency department protocol knowledge
6. Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
7. Strong assessment skills for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
8. IV certification and proficiency with emergency medication administration
9. Familiarity with emergency department flow and patient throughput
10. Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and emergency response duties
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
2. CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) certification
3. 3+ years of Level I or II trauma center experience
4. Experience with trauma team leadership and charge nurse duties
5. Previous experience in teaching hospitals or academic medical centers
6. Proficiency with multiple EMR systems, particularly EPIC
7. Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred) for diverse patient populations
8. Experience with emergency department quality improvement initiatives
9. Knowledge of emergency preparedness and disaster response protocols
10. Previous preceptor experience for new ER nurses and students

3. Flight nursing or critical care transport experience
