Direct Care Worker responsibilities include:
1. Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
2. Provide mobility assistance including transferring, positioning, and ambulation support
3. Prepare and serve meals according to specific dietary requirements and feeding assistance
4. Administer medication following established protocols and document accurately
5. Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining safe environments
6. Transport clients to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and community activities
7. Monitor and report changes in client's physical condition, behavior, and emotional state
8. Implement individualized care plans and document care provided in compliance with regulations
9. Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful social activities
10. Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent
2. Valid CPR and First Aid certification
3. Clean background check and eligible to work with vulnerable populations
4. Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform demanding physical tasks
5. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
6. Minimum 6 months of direct care experience
7. Ability to pass drug screening and health clearance
8. Basic English communication skills (verbal and written)
9. Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
1. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification
2. 2+ years of experience in direct care or related field
3. Experience with specific populations (elderly, developmental disabilities, mental health)
4. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements
5. Bilingual skills (Spanish-speaking preferred in many regions)
6. Experience with electronic health record documentation
7. Specialized training in dementia care or behavioral management
8. Previous experience in assisted living or group home settings
