1. Operate and monitor cardiopulmonary bypass (heart-lung) machines during cardiac surgeries
2. Manage extracorporeal circulation and myocardial protection systems
3. Administer blood products, medications, and anesthetic agents via bypass circuit
4. Monitor and regulate patient hemodynamic parameters including blood gas values, electrolytes, and anticoagulation
5. Operate intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, and ECMO systems
6. Maintain accurate perfusion records and documentation for each procedure
7. Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR nursing staff
8. Perform emergency procedures during critical situations in the OR
9. Manage blood conservation techniques and autotransfusion systems
10. Participate in quality assurance and perfusion protocol development
1. Graduate from accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion program
2. Current certification as a Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) from ABCP
3. Minimum 2 years of clinical perfusion experience in cardiac surgery
4. Current BLS and ACLS certifications
5. Comprehensive knowledge of cardiopulmonary bypass physiology
6. Proficiency in operating various perfusion equipment and monitoring systems
7. Understanding of blood gas analysis and interpretation
8. Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations in the OR
9. Strong sterile technique and operating room protocol knowledge
10. Valid state perfusion license (where required)

1. 5+ years of experience in high-volume cardiac surgery center
2. Experience with complex cardiac cases including transplants and ECMO

6. Experience in pediatric perfusion or congenital heart surgery
7. Membership in professional organizations (AmSECT, ABCP)
8. Advanced certification in ECMO or mechanical circulatory support

10. Previous work in academic medical center or teaching hospital
