Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive healthcare services to athletes and physically active individuals. This role involves injury prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with physicians, coaches, and other healthcare professionals to optimize athlete performance and ensure safe participation in sports activities.
Athletic Trainer responsibilities include:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive injury prevention programs including warm-up routines, flexibility exercises, and protective equipment fitting
2. Provide immediate emergency care and first aid for acute injuries during practices and competitions
3. Conduct thorough clinical evaluations and assessments to diagnose athletic injuries and medical conditions
4. Design and supervise rehabilitation programs for injured athletes using therapeutic modalities and exercises
5. Maintain detailed medical records including injury reports, treatment plans, and progress documentation
6. Coordinate with physicians regarding injury management, referrals, and return-to-play decisions
7. Educate athletes on nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, and proper training techniques
8. Conduct baseline concussion testing and manage concussion protocols according to state regulations
9. Overside athletic training room operations including inventory management and equipment maintenance
10. Travel with sports teams to provide medical coverage during away competitions and tournaments
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited program
2. BOC (Board of Certification) certification in good standing
3. State athletic training licensure or eligibility in the practicing state
4. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
5. Minimum 2 years of experience working with athletes in clinical or sports settings
6. Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics
7. Proficiency in injury assessment, taping techniques, and therapeutic modalities
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for athlete interaction
9. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and travel requirements
10. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift equipment, and assist injured athletes
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related field
2. Experience working with specific population (collegiate, professional, or secondary school athletes)
3. Additional certifications such as CSCS, PES, or CES
4. Experience with sports-specific injury prevention programs
5. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
6. Background in working with diverse athlete populations
7. Experience in developing and implementing emergency action plans
8. Knowledge of NCAA or professional sports league regulations
9. Bilingual abilities in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages
10. Previous experience with insurance documentation and claims processing
