This role involves building long-term client relationships, processing transactions, and promoting bank products to meet both customer needs and branch sales targets. The ideal candidate will deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining operational integrity and compliance with banking regulations.
Retail Banker responsibilities include:
1. Process customer transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments accurately and efficiently
2. Open, maintain, and service various consumer deposit accounts (checking, savings, CDs) and basic retirement accounts
3. Conduct needs-based conversations to identify and cross-sell appropriate bank products and services
4. Perform account maintenance, address changes, and resolve routine customer issues
5. Refer customers to specialized banking partners for mortgage, investment, and business banking needs
6. Maintain and balance cash drawer daily while adhering to cash handling policies and procedures
7. Educate customers on digital banking solutions and self-service options
8. Ensure compliance with all banking regulations including BSA/AML, Reg CC, and Reg E requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Minimum 1-2 years of cash handling experience in retail or banking environment
3. Proven customer service and sales experience with demonstrated results
4. Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn banking software systems
5. Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
6. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to pass background check and meet bonding requirements
8. Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
2. 2+ years of experience as a teller or personal banker in financial services
3. Existing NMLS registration or willingness to obtain within 90 days
4. Experience with core banking systems (Jack Henry, Fiserv, or similar platforms)
5. Knowledge of banking products, services, and regulatory requirements
6. Bilingual skills in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the service area
7. Previous experience meeting or exceeding sales goals in a quota-driven environment
Bonus Skills
1. Notary Public certification
2. FINRA Series 6 or 7 license
3. Certified Bank Teller (CBT) or similar banking certification
4. Experience with mortgage loan origination or processing
5. Advanced knowledge of investment products and services
6. Strong existing client portfolio or book of business
7. Expertise in fraud detection and prevention techniques
8. Community involvement and established local network
