We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting operations.
Accounting Specialist responsibilities include:
1. Process accounts payable and receivable transactions
2. Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
3. Prepare monthly journal entries and assist with month-end close
4. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
5. Process payroll and employee expense reimbursements
6. Assist with financial reporting and audit preparation
7. Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations
8. Monitor and resolve accounting discrepancies
9. Support budget preparation and financial forecasting
10. Implement and maintain internal financial controls
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2. 2+ years of professional accounting experience
3. Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
4. Strong understanding of US GAAP principles
5. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
6. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
7. Experience with accounts payable/receivable processing
8. Bank reconciliation experience
9. Strong organizational and time management skills
10. Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting
2. Experience with NetSuite or SAP accounting systems
3. Knowledge of sales tax compliance requirements
4. Experience in multi-state payroll processing
5. Familiarity with 1099 and W-2 reporting
6. Previous experience in corporate accounting environment
7. Understanding of SOX compliance requirements
8. Experience with financial reporting packages
9. Knowledge of automated accounting systems
10. Background in process improvement initiatives
