Job Overview

Safety Officer responsibilities include:

1. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA regulations 2. Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards 3. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions 4. Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and management 5. Maintain safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection records, and training logs 6. Coordinate emergency response procedures and conduct regular drills 7. Monitor compliance with safety regulations and company policies through audits and observations 8. Recommend safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements 9. Serve as the primary contact for all safety-related inquiries and regulatory inspections 10. Analyze safety data and trends to develop targeted improvement initiatives

Must-Have Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field 2. Minimum 3 years of experience in safety management or related role 3. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) certification 4. Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards 5. Experience conducting workplace safety inspections and risk assessments 6. Proven ability to develop and implement safety programs and policies 7. Knowledge of EPA regulations and environmental compliance 6. Experience with behavior-based safety programs 7. Previous experience managing workers' compensation cases 8. Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English) 9. Experience with ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems 10. Background in ergonomics assessment and implementation
