This position requires hands-on gardening expertise and the ability to work independently while adhering to property standards.
Gardener responsibilities include:
1. Perform daily maintenance of lawns, flower beds, and shrubbery through mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning
2. Plant seasonal flowers, trees, and shrubs according to landscape design plans
3. Implement irrigation systems and monitor water usage efficiency
4. Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides following EPA guidelines and safety protocols
5. Maintain gardening equipment including mowers, trimmers, and hand tools
6. Identify and treat plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies
7. Perform seasonal cleanup including leaf removal and winter preparation
8. Collaborate with landscape designers on new installation projects
1. 2+ years professional gardening or landscape maintenance experience
2. Valid driver's license with clean driving record
3. Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions
4. Knowledge of plant identification, growth habits, and care requirements
5. Proficiency with power gardening equipment operation and maintenance
6. Understanding of basic irrigation systems and water management
7. Ability to follow safety protocols and use PPE correctly
Preferred Qualifications
1. Certification in horticulture, arboriculture, or landscape maintenance
2. Experience with commercial property maintenance exceeding 5 acres
3. Knowledge of sustainable gardening practices and native plant species
4. Experience operating commercial-grade landscaping machinery
5. Background in organic gardening and integrated pest management
6. Familiarity with landscape design software or CAD programs
7. Bilingual abilities in Spanish and English
