Job Overview
We are seeking a professional Surveyor to conduct precise land, boundary, and construction surveys for various projects across the United States. The ideal candidate will utilize advanced surveying equipment and software to collect and analyze spatial data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
Surveyor responsibilities include:
1. Perform boundary, topographic, and construction surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment
2. Conduct field measurements and data collection for various land development projects
3. Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, and legal descriptions of surveys
4. Verify accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
5. Research land records, survey records, and land titles to obtain property information
6. Establish official land and water boundaries for deeds, leases, and other legal documents
7. Provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features
8. Prepare detailed reports and present findings to clients, engineers, and construction teams
1. Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field
2. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain within 12 months
3. Minimum 3 years of professional surveying experience in the United States
4. Proficiency with surveying equipment including GPS, total stations, and data collectors
5. Strong knowledge of surveying mathematics, principles, and techniques
6. Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar)
7. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites
8. Understanding of ALTA/NSPS land title surveys and boundary resolution principles
Preferred Qualifications
1. State-specific Professional Surveyor license (varies by location)
2. 5+ years of experience in land development or construction surveying
3. Experience with drone/UAV surveying technology and photogrammetry
4. Knowledge of GIS applications and spatial data analysis
5. Previous experience working on transportation or infrastructure projects
6. Familiarity with 3D laser scanning technology
7. Experience with boundary and topographic surveys for residential and commercial developments
8. Background in construction layout and as-built verification
Bonus Skills
1. FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate for drone operations
2. Experience with advanced surveying software (Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey, etc.)
3. Knowledge of hydrographic surveying techniques
4. Familiarity with subsurface utility engineering (SUE)
5. Experience with mobile LiDAR technology
6. Background in forensic surveying or expert witness testimony
7. Certification in construction surveying or specialized surveying techniques
8. Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) for diverse project sites
