Design Engineer responsibilities include:
1. Develop and design new products using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA)
2. Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation
3. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for new designs
4. Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and marketing
6. Prototype development and testing coordination
7. Implement design modifications based on testing results and feedback
8. Ensure designs meet industry standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO) and safety regulations
9. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
10. Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field
2. 3+ years of experience in product design and development
3. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
4. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, fabrication)
5. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
6. Experience with prototyping and testing methodologies
7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
8. Ability to create detailed technical documentation
9. Strong knowledge of materials science and properties
10. Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in Engineering or related field
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license
3. 5+ years of experience in specific industry (automotive, aerospace, consumer products)
4. Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
5. Proficiency in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems
6. Experience with rapid prototyping technologies (3D printing)
7. Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
8. Background in ergonomics and human factors engineering
9. Experience with thermal and stress analysis software
10. Previous work in FDA-regulated or highly regulated industries
