Job Overview
School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to support student achievement and promote positive mental health within educational settings. School Psychologist responsibilities include:
1. Conduct psychoeducational assessments to identify learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, and other educational needs
2. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans
3. Provide individual and group counseling services to address social-emotional and behavioral concerns
4. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop evidence-based intervention strategies
5. Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBA) and develop behavior intervention plans (BIP)
6. Provide crisis intervention and threat assessment services as needed
7. Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) teams
8. Deliver professional development to staff on mental health topics and classroom management strategies
9. Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with FERPA regulations
10. Serve as a liaison between school, family, and community mental health resources
1. Master's or Specialist degree in School Psychology from an NASP-approved program
2. Valid state certification/licensure as a School Psychologist
3. Minimum 2 years of experience conducting comprehensive psychological assessments in educational settings
4. Proficiency in administering and interpreting standardized assessment tools (WISC-V, WJIV, BASC-3)
5. Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws (IDEA, ADA, Section 504)
6. Experience developing and implementing behavior intervention plans
7. Strong understanding of child development and psychopathology
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
1. Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential
2. Experience with MTSS/RTI implementation in diverse school settings
3. Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English preferred)
4. Experience working with specific populations (autism spectrum, trauma-informed care, gifted education)
5. Knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention protocols
6. Experience with social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum implementation
7. Training in restorative practices or positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS)
8. Previous experience in both elementary and secondary educational settings
