Academic Advisor responsibilities include:
1. Conduct one-on-one academic advising sessions with assigned student caseload
2. Develop and maintain individualized academic plans aligned with degree requirements and career goals
3. Monitor student academic progress through degree audit systems and early alert programs
4. Interpret and explain institutional policies, procedures, and graduation requirements
5. Assist students with course selection, registration, and schedule planning each semester
6. Identify and refer students to appropriate campus resources (tutoring, counseling, career services)
7. Maintain accurate and confidential student records using CRM systems
8. Participate in new student orientation programs and admission events
9. Collaborate with faculty and department chairs on student academic issues
10. Track and report on student retention and persistence metrics
1. Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or related field
2. Minimum 2 years of experience in academic advising or student services
3. Knowledge of FERPA regulations and student privacy requirements
4. Proficiency with student information systems (Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar)
5. Demonstrated understanding of curriculum requirements and degree pathways
