Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate and optimize transportation operations. The ideal candidate will efficiently manage driver assignments, monitor fleet movements, and ensure timely delivery of goods/services while maintaining clear communication between drivers, customers, and management in a fast-paced environment.
Dispatcher responsibilities include:
1. Dispatch drivers and assign routes using GPS and routing software
2. Monitor real-time vehicle locations and delivery progress
3. Communicate with drivers via two-way radio/mobile devices
4. Update customers on delivery ETAs and service changes
5. Document and report transportation violations or accidents
6. Maintain accurate logs of driver hours per DOT regulations
7. Coordinate emergency responses and route adjustments
8. Process shipping documents and bill of ladings
9. Optimize routes for fuel efficiency and time management
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent
2. 2+ years dispatching experience in transportation/logistics
3. Proficiency with dispatch software (e.g., Descartes, TruckMate)
4. Knowledge of DOT regulations and hours-of-service rules
5. Excellent geographical knowledge of US regions
6. Strong multitasking and priority management skills
7. Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
1. Associate degree in Logistics or related field
2. Experience in specific sectors (long-haul, local delivery, emergency services)
3. Familiarity with ELD (Electronic Logging Device) systems
4. CRM software experience
5. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English)
6. CDL knowledge or certification
7. Experience with fuel management systems
