Estimator responsibilities include:
1. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates
2. Conduct site visits to gather essential information for accurate project bidding
3. Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and material pricing using industry-standard software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift)
4. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to clarify project requirements
5. Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for competitive pricing
6. Prepare and submit bid proposals within established deadlines
7. Monitor and track actual project costs versus estimated costs for continuous improvement
1. 3+ years of experience as an Estimator in the US construction industry
2. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
3. Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
4. Experience with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
5. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes
6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
7. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
2. 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial or residential construction
3. Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software
4. Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator - CPE)
5. Established network of subcontractor and supplier relationships in the local market
