Construction Estimator responsibilities include:
1. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
2. Conduct site visits to gather essential information for accurate project assessments
3. Prepare and maintain directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
4. Evaluate cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as project develops
5. Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
6. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
7. Review material and labor requirements to determine cost-effectiveness
8. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
9. Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
2. Minimum 3 years of experience as a construction estimator in commercial or residential projects
3. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
4. Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and industry standards
5. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contractual documents
7. Understanding of local building codes and regulations
8. Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites
Preferred Qualifications
