Direct Support Professional responsibilities include:
1. Assist individuals with personal care tasks including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene management
2. Implement individualized service plans and behavioral support strategies
3. Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and maintain accurate medication records
4. Support community integration through transportation and accompaniment to appointments, activities, and social events
5. Document daily progress notes, incident reports, and maintain client records in compliance with state regulations
6. Prepare nutritional meals following specific dietary requirements and assist with feeding when necessary
7. Provide crisis intervention and emergency response following established protocols
8. Assist with mobility transfers using proper lifting techniques and equipment
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent
2. Valid driver's license with clean driving record and reliable transportation
3. CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
4. Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
5. Physical capability to perform lifting (minimum 50 lbs) and mobility assistance
6. Basic computer skills for documentation and electronic health records
7. Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
1. 1+ years of experience in direct care or support role
2. Medication Administration certification
3. Experience with behavioral support techniques and crisis prevention
4. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality protocols
5. Associate's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field
6. Experience with specific disabilities (autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome)
7. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) in regions with diverse populations

1. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide certification
2. Experience with electronic health record systems (THERAP, Therapass, or similar)
3. Training in specialized areas: seizure management, diabetes care, or tube feeding
