Budget Analyst responsibilities include:
1. Develop and maintain annual operating budgets and multi-year financial forecasts
2. Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide detailed explanations for discrepancies
3. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports for senior management
4. Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor departmental budgets
5. Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements
6. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational financial regulations
7. Assist in the development of financial models for new initiatives and programs
8. Monitor expenditure patterns and recommend budget adjustments as needed
1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
2. 3+ years of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or related role
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data analysis)
4. Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
5. Experience with financial modeling and forecasting techniques
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
7. Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field
2. Experience with government or nonprofit budgeting processes
3. Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar)
